There's A LOT to getting literacy right, and it's constantly evolving. There is always new research around best practices, and A LOT of opinions. It's hard to keep up, and even harder to know which direction to go!
My goal is to help educators at all levels solve their literacy challenges.
After more then two decades as an educator, I've learned a whole lot of lessons. I've read all the books, had years of training, and have had much success in my 15 years both in the classroom and as a coach. I continue to learn each and every day, alongside teachers and students. And I'm here to share my learning to help YOU.
Together, we can solve your literacy puzzles. You are not alone!
We'll determine which instructional practices will truly move the needle for YOUR students. I'll help you cut through the noise and the clutter that can cause teacher stress and overwhelm--and do nothing to move student learning forward. We'll get down to what matters most--improving student learning!
I'm so glad you're here!
When it comes to literacy instruction, there are so many components, philosophies, and student needs.
And so little time!
After more than two decades in the field, I've seen it all...and it's time to SIMPLIFY. You are not going to see ads or products to buy here. No one needs more "stuff!"
What educators need now more than ever is to cut the clutter and the confusion--with practical, doable, and research-aligned best practices that impact student learning--in a way that makes the day to day work easier AND more rewarding.
Through 1:1 coaching, I can help you gain clarity, simplify your teaching, and ensure impactful learning for your students. Whether you're new to teaching, well-seasoned, or are a school leader, I am here to be your literacy partner!
Whether through my blog, 1:1 coaching, or anything in between, with nearly 25 years in the field of elementary education, I can support YOU with simple, sound, and high-impact instructional strategies. If that sounds like it's what you're looking for, you've come to the right place!
Michelle's coaching cycles allow for teacher autonomy and meeting the needs of ALL students. She took the time to understand my goals, strengths, and areas of improvement. We then used real-time data to decide on my instructional practices. She offered best teaching practices and provided feedback. She checked in to ensure that I continued to meet my goal(s). She helped build my teaching confidence and was my biggest cheerleader! Her motto of "How can I help" is evident in her practice.
Michelle is very knowledgeable about a multitude of reading strategies. With Michelle's coaching, I have experienced within my resource classroom reading growth that is between 1.5 years to 2 years of growth for students. She truly understands different methodologies for reading and was able to help me implement the methods that worked!
